About the Role
This Senior Accountant position is designed for an experienced finance professional specializing in the unique requirements of IT services organizations operating within the EMEA region. The role is fully remote, offering flexibility while demanding a high level of autonomy, accuracy, and expertise in international accounting standards. The position plays a critical role in ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and insightful reporting to support strategic decision-making in a dynamic, technology-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the full cycle of accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and month-end/year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Prepare, analyze, and present comprehensive financial statements and management reports in accordance with IFRS and local EMEA statutory requirements.
Ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and corporate policies across multiple EMEA jurisdictions.
Coordinate and manage external audits, liaising with auditors and regulatory bodies to provide required documentation and resolve queries efficiently.
Implement and maintain robust internal controls, risk management procedures, and process improvements to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
Manage multi-currency transactions, foreign exchange adjustments, and consolidation of financial data for entities operating in different EMEA countries.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, HR, and operations, to align financial processes with business objectives and support budgeting and forecasting activities.
Utilize advanced accounting software and ERP systems to automate workflows, enhance reporting capabilities, and drive operational efficiency.
Monitor and interpret financial performance metrics, providing actionable insights and recommendations to senior management for strategic planning.
Stay current with evolving EMEA tax laws, digital services regulations, and industry best practices relevant to IT services.
Required Experience & Skills
Extensive experience (typically 7+ years) in accounting roles, with a strong track record in the IT services or technology sector, preferably within the EMEA region.
In-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and familiarity with local GAAPs applicable to EMEA countries.
Proven expertise in managing multi-entity, multi-currency accounting operations and financial consolidations.
Advanced proficiency in accounting software (such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics) and strong Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
Demonstrated ability to prepare, review, and interpret complex financial statements and management reports.
Strong understanding of EMEA tax regulations, VAT compliance, and digital services tax implications.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication skills for collaborating with remote teams and presenting financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Experience in process improvement, automation, and implementation of internal controls within a remote or distributed work environment.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing regulatory or business requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional accounting certification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent is highly preferred.
Continuing professional development in international accounting standards and EMEA-specific regulations is advantageous.
Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards and ongoing learning in the accounting profession.
