Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Remote Wood and Furniture Draftsman to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for translating design concepts, sketches, and specifications into precise, comprehensive technical drawings and shop drawings for manufacturing. Working closely with our design and production teams, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and efficient fabrication of our wood-based products. This is a fully remote position requiring excellent self-management, communication, and technical drafting skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop detailed shop drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and intricate joinery details for furniture, cabinetry, and/or architectural millwork.
Interpret design concepts, initial sketches, field measurements, and client feedback to create accurate production-ready drawings.
Collaborate effectively with designers, project managers, and fabrication teams via email, phone, and video conferencing to resolve design challenges and ensure drawings meet project requirements.
Create accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), cut lists, and hardware schedules derived from the drawings.
Ensure all drawings adhere to company standards, industry best practices, and project-specific requirements.
Review and revise drawings based on feedback and design changes throughout the project lifecycle.
Maintain organized digital drawing files and libraries.
Stay updated on woodworking techniques, materials, hardware, and relevant software advancements.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience of 5+ years as a Draftsman, Detailer, or CAD Technician specifically within the woodworking, furniture, cabinetry, or architectural millwork industry.
High proficiency in [Specify REQUIRED CAD software, e.g., AutoCAD 2D/3D].
Strong understanding of wood materials, properties, standard construction methods, joinery techniques, and hardware integration.
Ability to read and accurately interpret architectural plans, design sketches, and technical specifications.

Excellent spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote work environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Reliable high-speed internet connection and a suitable remote work setup.
Portfolio showcasing relevant technical drawings (shop drawings, fabrication details) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with additional CAD or modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, SketchUp, Rhino, Inventor).
Experience with CAM software or knowledge of CNC machining processes.
Experience creating 3D models and renderings.
Formal training or degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Industrial Design, Architecture, or a related field.
Experience working within specific industry standards (e.g., AWI).
