Chief Accountant

About the Role

Baytonia is looking for a Chief Accountant to lead core accounting operations and strengthen financial control across a growing furniture and home commerce business in Saudi Arabia. This role is ideal for a hands-on finance professional who understands the operational realities of e-commerce or retail, including inventory, supplier payments, reconciliations, VAT, and multi-channel transaction flows.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, improving accounting processes, supporting compliance, and driving stronger use of Odoo ERP across the finance function.

Work Arrangement

This role will be remote during the 6-month probation period. Upon successful completion of probation, the candidate may be required to relocate to Baytonia’s head office in Jeddah, depending on business needs and role alignment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the full accounting cycle, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, accruals, and fixed assets

Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities with accuracy and timeliness

Prepare financial statements, management reports, and cash flow reports for leadership

Oversee accounting for high-volume commercial transactions across e-commerce and/or retail operations

Monitor inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, margin accuracy, and stock-related reconciliations

Ensure compliance with Saudi VAT, ZATCA, and local financial regulations

Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other relevant stakeholders

Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial discipline across the business

Work closely with operations, procurement, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure accurate financial recording of day-to-day business activity

Optimize finance workflows and reporting within Odoo, ensuring data accuracy and process efficiency

Must-Have Requirements

Proven experience in a Chief Accountant, Senior Accountant, or Accounting Manager role

Mandatory experience in e-commerce or retail

Strong hands-on working experience with Odoo ERP

Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing

Good understanding of inventory-driven business accounting

Solid knowledge of Saudi VAT, compliance, and statutory accounting requirements

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Professional certification such as SOCPA, CPA, ACCA, or CMA is a plus

Experience in furniture, homeware, marketplace, or omni-channel retail businesses is highly preferred

Experience supporting a growing company with multiple sellers, suppliers, or operational complexity is an advantage
